Kochi to Muroto under cloudy and wet skies

The morning started with heavy rain , so I had to resort to wearing socks to breakfast.

We then spent the morning drinking coffee at our ryokan hotel waiting for the rain to stop. then we were off, however the Duke suffered a tyre blow out early on and we sort of repaired it but then had to catch up to the bus to change the tyre. This cost us about an hour in mucking around.

Then it was the usual hours ride along a main road in the urban environment before we could strike out with some speed. Also had to look out for wet tram tracks, but we all survived

Wasn't much of a coastal view considering we were riding 85 km along the coast in a south easterly direction. Much like New Zealand beaches, no one was swimming and the temperature had dropped 10 degrees to a comfortable mid 20s today.

Sometimes there was a bike path, but this one ended in a land slip so we had to turn around

Sign says run to the left 240 m if there is a tsunami

This tunnel went for 1200m and wasn't really wide enough for riders

The Goose brushed the wall and got sooty while the Cav scraped a fetlock.

Then it was into whale country at Cape Goydo ( I think)

At the very tip of the Cape, see ship in the distance too - pedals, electric cowboy and goose.

Sort of spectacular

Tomorrow it's a big transit up into the mountains to Takayama, something like a 10 hour trip as we will average about 70 km per hour!
